FALL SHOWS 2021
School of Rock San Diego
WEEZER
Rehearses: Mondays 5:15-7:15pm
First Rehearsal: September 27th, 2021
Director: Damon DeLaPaz
Although they began as a huge cult hit in the 90s, Weezer reunited in the 2000s and began their ascent to rock royalty. With more hits than most of their contemporaries, Weezer carved out a very special place in the hearts of songwriting fans everywhere. This show will feature all your favorite tunes as well as the deep cuts that will make the nerdy fans lose their minds. This one is ultra fun and is great for all skill levels.
FLEETWOOD MAC
Rehearses: Tuesdays 5:15-7:15pm
First Rehearsal: September 28th, 2021
Director: Andrew Steele
We’ve never done this one before! Truly one of the greatest and most influential bands of the century, Fleetwood Mac rewrote the rock band rule book in so many ways. Usually a lineup change marks the end of a band’s best work, but the many personnel changes over the decades only gave Fleetwood Mac opportunities to try new things. If you only know the hits, you have some serious surprises in store for you! This will be a challenge for most instruments, but will be especially great for the vocalists.
WHO’S NEXT 50th Anniversary (and other classics by THE WHO)
Rehearses: Wednesdays 5:15-7:15pm
First Rehearsal: September 29th, 2021
Director: Tyler Ward
The Who’s classic album “Who’s Next” routinely shows up in everyone’s “Greatest Albums Of All Time” lists, and for good reason. It has some of their best known hits, it’s STILL relevant today, and it has arguably the greatest single moment in rock history (that SCREAM!!!!!!). This show will tackle the whole album from start to finish and then will add some Who classics to fill out the rest of the set. We’ve never done this one before, so jump on it!
BEST OF THE 2010s
Rehearses: Saturdays 11am-1pm
First Rehearsal: October 2nd, 2021
Director: Jenny Merullo
Now that the decade is officially over, we can do a real Best of the 2010s show! If you’re interested in modern stuff or are just fully unaware of what is happening musically these days, this show is for you! Queens of the Stone Age & Gorillaz? Of course. Mac Demarco & Paramore? Yep. Hip Hop & Indie Rock? Sure. EVERYTHING is on the table for this one, so don’t sleep on it. This may end up being the most challenging show in some ways, but is still great for most skill levels.
BLACK SABBATH
Rehearses: Saturday 3:30-5:30pm
First Rehearsal: October 2nd, 2021
Director: Jay Sanchioli
The most important band in Metal history, Black Sabbath carved a path and influenced every metal band that came after. Truly, without Sabbath, there would be no Metallica, Maiden, Slayer, Sleep, or Mastodon. That being said, they have a much broader appeal than most of those bands, so even if you’re more of a Classic Rock fan than a Metalhead, there’s a lot to love here. Everyone needs to study this band at some point. There are virtually no keys parts in this one, but it’s good for all other instruments and skill levels.
